"Some say I'm an artist...I guess that makes sugar my medium."

It all began when I was about three years old sitting on my mother's counter top cleaning the spoon and bowl as I "helped".  An obsession began, that I have yet to get over.  Well, a lot as happened since then.  After several years of working as an Engineer, I experienced several layoffs in a tumbling industry.  I suddenly had a lot of time on my hands to reconsider where my career should lead and ultimately what would make me happy and successful.  I’ve always been a creative person; by nature I enjoy solving problems and creating unique solutions.  But there is something that I’ve always enjoyed and that is the essence of the kitchen and my obsession with food.  Growing up in south Louisiana, I was surrounded by a lot of good cooks; the kinds that make everything from scratch and plan dinner before you even eat lunch.  I definitely am following in those lovely footsteps.  I enjoy trying new recipes, making up my own and entertaining guests with interesting creations.  I experienced a transformation from simply enjoying food to creating delightful tastes with charisma all their own.

I officially formed the company in January of 2009.  I wanted the company to have a unique name that represented my upbringing and characterized my products.  I decided on myla: my louisiana.  myla represents a winning combination of southern charm, a passion for entertaining and baking, the discipline of engineering, and the obsession for creating delectable tastes.

This is me, this is my Louisiana.
